Waimarino businesses invited to shoot

The Waimarino Smallbore Rifle Club is now preparing for the Interbusiness Competition which was inaugurated last year as a yearly competition by the Waimarino Smallbore Rifle Club. There is a trophy to be presented to the winning team each year and, after engraving, placed on display in the offices of the Trusteebank Wanganui for 6 months in Raetihi and 6 months in Ohakune. There are minor prizes also awarded. This year's competition will begin on Monday 16 . March 1987. It will be held at the Club Range in the 'Produce Shed' at the Raetihi Showgrounds, opposite the Raetihi Cemetery. It will be conducted over the 25 yard range and shooting at the standard smallbore rifle cardboard targets consisting of 10 black markers. No previous experience with firearms is necessary. On-site coaching will be provided by Club members who will assist in every way possible to ensure that each shooter achieves the best

score possible. The Club will provide all the equipment necessary which will include rifles, ammunition, targets and leather slings for assistance in holding the rifles. A team will consist of 4 people from any commercial enterprise, local or Government enterprise within the Waimarino. The cost per member will be $5.00, or a total of $20 per team which will cover the cost of the ammunition and use of Club equipment. It is suggested that shooters wear a heavy jacket or a bulky jersey and that women shooters wear slacks rather than a dress. No alcohol will be permitted during the competition and the Club reserves the right to refuse

entry to any person suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. When all the teams have completed their cards and final scores known, there will be a function at a place to be advised at which the trophies will be presented. If there is a commercial enterprise, local or Government enterprise within the Waimarino that may be interested in entering a team in the competition but has not been contacted. piease contact the following members of the Club who will be pleased to assist:- Bob McGinniss, ph. 58-553; Tom Donaldson, ph. 54-778; Ken Summerhays, ph. 54-104; Andrew Condon, ph. 54-359.
