Kids can say 'No'

The Rolf Harris Video called 'Kids Can Say No' will be shown at all primary schools in the district over the next week by the Public Health Nurse - Leigh Berry. The video explores 'Yes' feelings such as happy, safe and friendliness, and 'No' feelings such as lonely, angry, and frightened. It is divided into four stories which cover topics including strangers, gifts versus bribes, and, good and bad secrets. The children will be encouraged to discuss what they might do, and who they can get help from, in each situation. The children will also learn that ai times it is all right to say 'No' or 'go away' to an adult. The sessions will be aimed at helping the children stay safe, and to learn how to get help if they need it. A song accompanies the video which includes the words: "My body's nobody's body but mine, You run your own body, Let me run mine." Parents are welcome to attend the sessions with their children. Times and dates may be obtained from the appropriate school.
