Pre Area Trials
Ohakune's Tania Taylor on 'Riccochet'jumped to victory in the Open Class of the King Country Pre Area Trials, held on Saturday February 7, taking her to first overall in the dressage, cross country and show jumping events. Judy Dixon (Kaitieke) on 'High Flyer' was second and Lisette Ginn (Taumarunui) on 'Marcello' third in a strong field of competitors. If this form continues Tania should be a strong contender for team selection for
the N.Z. Pony Club Championships at Avondale in May. Unscheduled event of the day causing great excitement was the Rokes' old mother cat from the hay barn giving birth to three kittens in the District Commissioner's car! RESULTS Beginners (11 and under) Dressage: lst-Robert Taylor on 'Hobgoblin': 2nd-Lisa Hagley on 'Coloured Lady'; 3rd equal-Ryan Mclntyre on 'Heidi' and Rachel James on 'Nga Pas Folly'. Overall: Ist-Paula Greenwood on 'Grumpy'; 2nd-Robert Taylor on 'Hobgoblin'; 3rd-Rachel James on 'Nga Pas Folly'.
Novice Dressage: Ist-Shona Weston on 'Tiptoe'; 2nd-Fiona Evans on 'Jumbo'; 3rd-Cynthia Taylor on 'Contessa'. Overall: Ist-Cynthia Taylor on 'Contessa'; 2nd-Shona Weston on 'Tiptoe'; 3rd-Treena Fleming on 'Marco Polo'. Novice Adult Dressage: lst-Jane Zweibruck on 'Chop Tank"; 2nd-Christine Reynolds on 'Warrior'; 3rd-Evelyn Cooper on 'Silver'. Overall: Ist-Christine Reynolds on 'Warrior'; 2nd-Evelyn Cooper on 'Silver'. Senior Dressage: lst-Tania Taylor on 'Riccochet': 2nd-Janine Mcllroy on 'Cossack'; 3rd-Judy Dixon on 'High Flyer'.
