Parents Health Course

A course especially for parents with young children is to be run in Raetihi over the next 3 months. The course runs for eleven weekly morning sessions commencing on Tuesday 24 February. A broad range of topics will be covered including understanding the body, caring for sick children, first aid, mothers health, nutrition, safety, and relating to your health advisor. The course aims to give knowledge to mothers about their own health, childhood diseases, growth and development, and preventative health measures. It is hoped that mothers will gain greater confidence in evaluating illness in the family, knowing when to seek help, and choosing health care wisely. The workshops will be held at the Raetihi nurses home from 10.00am- 12.00 noon (approx.), led by Plunket Nurse Carol Harford, and Public Health Nurse Leigh Berry, with visiting speakers also participating as appropriate. Each participant will receive a "Self help health care" workbook which fully covers the content of the course. A creche will be provided at each session. The course costs $10.00. Numbers are restricted with enrolments closing Friday 20 February. Enrolments can be made by phoning Leigh Berry, 54172 or Carol Harford, 54395 evenings.
