Ohakune Jubilee ball

Many hours of hard work have gone into the preparations for the Ohakune Jubilee Debutante Bali, to be held on Saturday 21 February. Ten young ladies are being groomed by Mrs Mary Wright for their preservation at the ball. Mrs Elwyn Costello is in charge of decorating the hall and has chosen a theme that will transform the primary school hall into a ballroom equal to any seen in past years. Mrs Angela Martin has arranged the supper for the

evening, engaging Palm Lounge caterers of Wanganui who will provide a continuous supper through the evening. The supper and the bar facilities will be housed in a huge marque tent set up beside the hall. Trolleys with refreshments will circulate the ballroom to serve guests. Mr Pat Goldfinch is head steward. The debutantes will be presented to the Honorable Mr Jim Bolger and Mrs Bolger at around 9pm. Also in the official party will be mayor Mr Bill Taylor, Mr

Jim Cranston who is chairman of the ball committee, Mrs Cranston, Commander Richard Jackson of HMNZS Irirangi and Mrs Jackson. The debutantes will be escorted by navy midshipmen following their presentation. Music will be supplied by the Royal New Zealand Navy Band of which 22 members will be present. The ball committee have budgeted for the programme so the costs will be met by the sale of tickets and from the proceeds of raffles run. They believe that $35

per ticket is good value con-' sidering supper, refreshments and first class entertainment is included in the price. Dress for the ball is to be semi-formal with dinner or lounge suits preferred. Tickets are available from the information centre next to the Bullelin office in Clyde Steet, Ohakune, phone 58-1 51 . A limited number of tickets are available and people wishing to make up a party would be well advised to purchase their tickets soon.
