Taihape Show a winner
The Taihape Agricultural and Pastoral show last Saturday was a huge success with 6000 people attending. There were a large number of entrants from the Waimarino in events such as show jumping, shearing, wool handling and the 'Top Team' competitions. The weather for the show was exceptional and a bumper programme of events, along with the traditional side-show amusements was enough to keep the widest range of interests entertained. In the show jumping events there were some Waimarino successes. Tania Taylor of Ohakune, riding "Riccochet"came first in the
maiden pony harness horse competition, second in the 'Best groomed and equipped pony', first in the Maiden Open pony competition (and champion ribbon), second in the maiden pony jumping competition, and, in the Novice horses international 'Pony A M2' - first. Robert Taylor riding "Hobgoblin" wasthird inhis low jump section and Lisa Hagley on "Colour Lady" third in her low jump section. Maria Fredericksen from Raetihi, on "Delegate", was placed third in the maiden pony section of the harness horses. Robert Taylor with "Hobgoblin" was third in the 'Best groomed and equipped pony' (137.5cm and under).
