Children hunt moas
Magic mountains, spiders versus blowflys tug V war and moa hunting were the order of the day during the Tongariro National Park's children's summer activities programme. The programme had on average 1 5-25 children a day which called for more than a little imagination from staff involved in organising activities. Someone's imagination was working overtime when they came up with such games as wetaball, trout and wood-pigeon races and possums versus rabbits soccer! The theme of the activities was based loosely on the park and appropriately named 'Nature and Nonsense'.
