River hut wardens needed
If you are an enthusiast of the wild beauty of the Wanganui River and surrounding area and have a good general knowledge of local land-marks, then a vacancy exists for you as a hut warden over the summer holidays. Wanganui River Reserves are interested in hearing from individuals or couples interested in volunteering for the job of hut wardens for the Tieke and John Coull huts, situated on the Wanganui River above Pipiriki. Tieke Hut is on the left bank of the river about 20kms upstream from Pipiriki and John Coull Hut is on the right bank a further 20kms upstream. The jobs are ideal for people keen to relax and escape the pressures of urban life and with a genuine interest in the running of the river park. The huts are inaccessible to trampers and cater mainly for jet-boaters and canoeists along the Wanganui River. Vacancies exist for people whocan offera minimum of two days between 28 December and midFebruary. Their only responsibilities i are as good public relations officers for the hut users — ; providing information about the area and collecting hut fees. Hut Wardens are assured of plenty of sun (if previous years are any indication).
