Councillor resigns

Cr John Martin, Waimarino County member for the Karioi riding, resigned last week for health reasons. John Martin has been a Waimarino County Councillor for 21 years and served as deputy chairman for six of those years. He told the Bulletin last week that this total commitment to local body affairs has taken its toll and he wants to take a spell. "I've been under stress for some time particularly since mv friend and colleague Malcolm Whale died sud-

denlv two months ago." "1 haven't sown a single oat (60 acres), 1 haven't docked a single lamb nor shorn a single fleece-in the last two months." he said. "But I am prepared to come back some time in the future and serve the County and the people in the Karioi riding again if l'm wanted." Meanwhile the Waimarino County is calling for nominations to fill the two places left vacant by the death of Cr Malcolm Whale and the resignation of Cr John Martin (see Public Notices).
