Stag for Giant Man?
Turoa skiers thought their eyes were deceiving them last Wednesday when a stag cantered across the skifield. In the early afternoon of a good skiing day skiers suddenly spotted the deer above the T-bars, running back and forth but generally moving towards the summit. He ran in and out of the icy shark's tooth on the top ridge and then disappeared over the top in the direction of Whakapapa. One, skier was heard to remark that ruminants wouldn't find much food to their liking in the Turoa cafes, but perhaps he was training for this weekend's Giant Man competition!
