MP's wife in Waimarino

While Leader of the Opposition and King Country MP Jim Bolger was meeting National Party constituents in the Waimarino last week, his wife Joan, sat in the Ohakune Borough Council building making sure the visit ran smoothly. The couple travelled to the district last Monday on a whirlwind visit to farmers and other voters, to hear the gripes, if any, and to discuss matters of interest. In the years Jim Bolger has been in Parliament Joan has been beside him all the way, offering support and making sure the domestic side of life is trouble free. It is a mammoth responsibility being wife to the Leader of the Opposition - more so than wife of a cabinet minister. But Joan Bolger seems to have the right recipe for success. Any lady who can be mother to nine children, four of primary school age, who keeps a happy home, and is her husband's number-one supporter, deserves a medal! Mrs Bolger admits that it is a lot of hard work, and finds that her precious time is often filled with parties, gatherings and meetings, but she is adamant that it is all worth it.
