Raetihi Volunteer Fire Brigade were called out to a chimney fire at a house a Kakatahi along State Highway 4 last Thursday night, at 7.30pm. The fire was out by the time the brigade arrived, with little damage to the building. * ★ ★ Police were called out to a motor accident at 1 1am on Saturday, one km south of Raetihi on State Highway 4. Seventeen year old Raymortd Boyd, a farm hand, from Matahiwi Track 15km south of Raetihi, was the sole occupant of the Mazda car which rolled several times. Mr Boyd was admitted to Waimarino Hospital suffering from cuts and bruises, and was said to be in a satisfactory condition. The vehicle he was driving was written off in the accident. ★ ★ ★ Ohakune Volunteer Fire Brigade attended a small fire inside an unused shed on Conway Street last Tuesday when smoke was noticed coming from the building. The fire was on the floor, apparently started from some rags and a small amount of rubbish. The cause of the fire is still undetermined. Firemen took just minutes to reach the building and had the fire out within a short time. The shed was undamaged in the incident.
