Skiing looking good
Last weekend was a bonusfor Turoa -weather forecasts were bad but the skiing turned out to be very good. Strong winds closed lifts an hour early on Saturday, but apart from that the weekend's skiing was excellent and there were good crowds. Crowds are building up now for the busy midAugust period with university breaks beginning, and school holidays coming up. With good weather reports for the rest of the week the skiing should be good.
All facilities are operating. The Haensli Steinlager slalom series were held at Whakapapa but were somewhat impaired by the weather. On Sunday the day started clear but visibility was soon severely reduced. Hundreds of skiers still enjoyed a good day however. This'week promises to be fine and clear much of the time. Monday's Whakapapa report was for light northerlies, fine weather, with all facilities operating except National number 1 and Staircase T-bars.
