Under-19s go down

Ohakune - K a r i o i Under-19 players went down 29-6 on Saturday against Kaierau "Gold". This was a good open game with both teams trying to throw the ball around. Unfortunately two or three , silly mistakes made by Ohakune-Karioi through inexperience gave the game away. Coach Warren Swain was not happy that his team had to play at Karioi instead of Rochfort Park. This meant they had almost no spectators which took some of the excitement out of the game. An Army game played at Rochfort Park on Thursday cut the field up and despite hard work by Robin Pearson on Friday the Under-19s could not play there. "Much to my disgust," said Warren. Vaughan Taylor scored Ohakune's try. Chris Vine had a good game at halfback, and Steven Mott, who came on during the second half, also played well. Trevor Henare tackled well.
