Long-serving council employee retires

Peter Arahanga has recently retired after 34 years with the Raetihi Borough Council works department. This must be something of a record. Mayor Garrick Workman said that the council had found Mr Arahanga 's work over the years to be more than satisfactory. His local

knowledge, such as the location of water mains, was invaluable. Mr Workman said he would be badly missed and had a very good record of work over the years in whch he acted in the capacity of leading hand. At a recent function at the Raetihi Hotel Mr Arahanga was presented with a gold watch.
