Complaint private matter
A letter from "Upset collector" of Raetihi published in the Bulletin last week and in the Wanganui Chronicle was of concern to the Raetihi Borough Council at last week's meeting. The letter stated that a collector from the Crippled
Children's Society had been sworn at and abused by an employee of the council. The Mayor, Garrick Workman, said that although the letter referred to a private matter of no concern of the council, it did imply that a council employee had made threats and intimidated ratepayers during the course of his duty.
He said if this was the case he would be very upset but no complaints had been received. "I challenge the writer to come up with any concrete evidence," he said. The council determined to dissociate itself from the matter saying it was a private matter and none of its business.
