Siggy still in front
At last report Siggy Bauer was still leading the field in a 1000 mile endurance race in New York. Two hours into the sixth day of the race American record holder Stu Mid-
dleton was trailing Bauer by 1 8 miles after having caught up nearly 30 miles in the previous 24 hours. Bauer, 44, holds the world record for the 1000 mile distance, running it in 12 days, 12 hours and 36 minutes in Colac in Australia in 1983.
