Cultural group for Waiouru

A cultural group has recently been started in Waiouru by Padre Sonny Melbourne. The group meets every Sunday at St George's Chapel, Waiouru, to practice action songs, haka, waiata and poi dances. There are about 20 people in the group, mostly adults and teenagers, although there is one nine-year-old. Padre Melbourne said people of all ages were welcome to join the group. A trip is planned to Rarotonga during August school holidays of next year, "and anywhere else where people have enough money to go to," said Padre Melbourne. The trip will be simply a holiday but the group will perform for their hosts.
