Waimarino softball presentations
INDOOR SOCCER The third round of the opening league was played last Wednesday night. The feature of all games was the close results. , In the first game of the night College White upset College Yellow 4-3. Warriors and Yetis fought out a close game and it was onlyi two quick goals late in the second half that gave Warriors a more comfortable win. The Steinies-Karioi game was also close with a missed penalty only a minute from full time proving costly for Karioi. In the final game College Red were put under much pressure by an improved Winstones team. SQUASH With the Waimarino squash season underway, the ladies interclub team has played two games. The first round was away ai Palmerston North, playing the Palmerston North Squash Club and Waimarino went down by 5 games to 0. The second round was against Taihape at Raetihi and Waimarino successfully won by 3 games to 2. Results Waimarino v Palmerston North: Lesley Todd (D2) lost to L. Ruapehu College Old Boys softball team took most of the prizes at the Waimarino Softball Association's presentation and social on Saturday night in Waiouru. Presenting the prizes was Artie Duncan, the coach of the Wellington Softball team. Those who won prizes were nominated by the Waimarino Softball Association. Ruapehu College Old Boys won: Open Day trophy .for men and ladies, trophy for 1st round men and 1st round women, champion of champions trophies. Most improved player: men, Robert Brown; women, Kim Burrows; most dedicated, Darran Hawira; services to the association, men, Walter Sue; women, Diane Swainson from the Waiouru Softball Club.
