Big stag killed
A big red deer stag caught by Waimarino County noxious plants offlcer Joe Martin, created quite a stir recently. The stag was the biggest ever to be stored in the Berg's game chiller at John and Barbara Dempsey's house in Queen Street, Raetihi. At 380 pounds chiller weight, minus head and offal, the stag was big. Joe said the stag was a good beast and had quite a good 12-point head. He caught it in the Tauriwa area.
