NETBALL

The netball season will begin shortly after Easter, and Ohakune s Checkers Netball Club are preparing for it now. They train on Wednesdays at the Ohakune Primary Sehool hall, where they practise ball handling and exercise. At their annual general meeting on 5 March the club decided that as last year's tournament was so successful they would hold another later this year. The club will be running raffles to raise funds and will hold a pre-season gettogether on 26 March. So far the team has about nine players and five supporters and new players are welcome. Annette Schrier was reelected president and club captain, Christine Woods elected secretary-treasurer and previous secretarytreasurer. Ellen Samson, was elected vice-captain. The team will play at Ruapehu College on Saturday mornings.
