Substation staff from Stratford wire the circuit breakers at Tangiwai sub-station. The 'Sprecher Schuh' circuit breakers come from Sweden and are worth about $60,000 each. This is part of the $5 mililon project to double the size of the sub-station. This will give the system a more stable power distribution and supply more power to the Railways Corporation for the electrification of the main trunk line.
