Furniture, carpet sale popular
Beds, bunks and floorings were snatched up in Irvin and Stern 's three'day sale in Ohakune. Three truckloads of furniture and floorings came from Taupo and were displayed in the FCOS building from Thursday until Saturday. Carol Gibbs, from Taupo, who was in charge of the furniture section, said on Friday eight sets of bunks, nine big beds and two lounge suites had been sold. Carpet and lino salesman Darren Smith was busy giving quotes for flooring in homes and businesses all day on Friday. Mr Smith said because of the popularity of the threeday sale, it may become an annual event. The last sale was held about three years ago and was also very successful. Because of the large number of enquiries about bedroom suites, Mrs Gibbs said they may consider bringing some over next time. Irvin and Stern will have completed their new 25,000 square feet showroom by July. Mrs Gibbs said many Ohakune people shop at their store in Taupo.
