COLLIE CLUB

Farmers and their dogs from near and far competed in the Raetihi Collie Club dog trials at the Wiggins' property on Parapara Road recently. The standard was high with about 400 entries and a field of 100 in each event. From funds raised by a stock drive last year, the club was able to purchase a new cookshop for the event. Locals who won trophies in the trial were: Brett Journeaux, John Journeaux, John McCarthy, Brian Gibson, Mike Chayton. Special prize for the youngest competitor: Nick Deighton.
