Waimarino butcher succeeds

Ohakune New World's cadet butcher, Mark Samson, came second in the national first qualifying butchery apprentice exams recently. Mark, 19, passed the exam with 90 per cent. He sat the exam at Waiouru in November but received the results just a few weeks ago. He entered the apprenticeship 1 XA years ago and has worked at the suptermarket for several years. Alan Murdie, Ohakune New World's manager, said one of the reasons Mark has done so well is because he is in a small supermarket where he has to do everything, and because butcher, Donald Parkes, is an excellent teacher for Mark. Mark will complete his apprenticeship in two years.
