BOWLS

Audrey Nation has won the open singles in the Ohakune Bowling Club championships. She will be competing in the open singles champion of champions in Wanganui on 17 February. If she is successful there, Mrs Nation will go on to the New Zealand Open Singles. She was also winner of the senior singles. Betty Hammond won the intermediate singles and Christine Kaiwhare won the junior singles. The three will be competing in Wanganui between 24 and 28 February. The Ohakune Bowling Club retained the Simonsons Cup against Peat Park last week. They are to be challenged for the cup by St. Johns Hill at a date which is yet to be set. At a tournament held on Sunday 9 February, Bill Heath and his mixed team were the winners.
