Vandalism up

There has been an upsurge in vandalism in the Waimarino area in the last few months. Sergeant Neil Coker of the Ohakune Police instances examples such as grafitti, the removal of the Christmas tree lights from the

corner of Clyde and Goldfinch Streets, damage to schools and other buildings, and damage to the Ruapehu Lions children's playhouse in Jubilee Park, Ohakune. Sergeant Coker said it was hard to explain the reasons for such apparently mindless activity but felt that boredom and lack of proper parental care were major factors.
