The Waimarino Smallbore Rifle Club has been shooting for only one season. Its team success rate was highlighted recently when competing against the Muni-
cipal team from Wanganui for the 'Waimarino Log' — a handsome trophy carved and presented by Waimarino Club president Bob McGinniss for an annual competition against the Wanganui Club. The final team scores were: Waimarino 571.21, Municipal 570.15. A shield trophy presented to the highest individual aggregate shooter was won by Mike Beytagh with an aggregate of 103.5. At the final night presentation trophy evening at the Raetihi Hotel when trophies were presented by Ray McGinniss of the Municipal Club, the crowning glory for the team was the achievement of winning the highest
aggregate total in the 'A' team handicap aggregate interclub competition within the Wanganui District Association. The shield was received by Mike Beytdgh, the team captain. The club president, Bob McGinniss, said that this was a truly magnificent feat for a small club just starting out and feeling its way in the first year. He said it was a marvellous reward for the dedication and effort by all the members. There have been many individual successes during this first season of competition. The ultimate trophies to be achieved by an individual in competition within the
Wanganui Association were won for 1985 by a Waimarino member — John Scobie. John represented Waimarino as its master grade champion and during a night of shooting at Wanganui, became the master grade champion of the Wanganui District Association. In a final shoot off against all other grade champions, he easily won the title of 'Champion of Champions'. Other Wanganui Association trophies presented were: Wanganui Open 'C' champion, Lyn Maru; Wanganui District Open 'C' grade champion, Lyn Maru; Wanganui District Open 'D' grade champion, Mike Beytagh; 'D' grade pairs, B. McGinniss/Tom Donaldson; Knockout 'D' grade team, M. Beytagh, K. Summerhays, B. McGinniss, T. Donaldson. John Scobie received a bar as a
