Little Mermaid performed

'The Little Mermaid' was performed by the , pupils of Joy Wilson's School of Dance at the Ohakune Primary School recently. Dancers ranged from tiny tots to seniors and performed modern dance and classical ballet, to the theme of the story of The Little Mermaid.

Special attraction of the evening was Lisa Norling, who is at the New Zealand School of Dance in Wellington. She was previously a pupil of Joy Wilson and came back especially for the evening. Lisa performed a modern jazz item, which she made up as she danced, and the

Royal Ballet 's variation of Swanhilda, the opening dance from the ballet Coppelia. Prizes presented at the end of the evening were: Jaqueline Moore Cup for most improved junior, Kathy Searle. First year grade one prize, Nicki Davidson. Grooming prize, Debbie Summerhays. Musical award, Melanie Seator. Debra Moore Cup for most artistic senior, Shanika Perera. Daryn Norling Cup for most improved junior, Eleanor Davidson: Lisa Norling Cup for most improved senior, Tracey Dunn. Te Karu Memorial Rose Bowl (personality), Rachael Newton. Waimarino Brass Band Cup for co-operation and diligence, Anna Dowsett. Reynolds Ford Trophy for senior jazz, Carys Hubbard. Cassandra Wright Trophy for most promising senior, Karlene Hough. Bridget Wilson Cup for most co-operation in junior jazz, Michelle Buckland. Amanda Jarlov Cup for most co-operation in senior jazz, Serena Taylor. Ohakune TV Electrical Cup for most conscientious in jazz, Ursula Haack. Shanika Perere Cup for most improved intermediate, Kari Buckland. Holmes Trophy for most appealing in junior jazz, Daryn Norling. Raylene Sue Trophy for most appealing in senior jazz, Helen Hubbard.
