Camping Ground Manager
Ohakune has a new manager for the council camping ground, Brian Watt from Pahiatua. He and his Fijian wife, Padmani and six and a half month-old baby, Kelvin, moved to Ohakune three weeks ago and are enjoying the people and the area so far, despite being extremely busy. Brian was formerly caretaker of the local school in Pahiatua, which he said was the same sort of job as he has now, except that there is more office work, which he is managing fine. Brian would like to promote the camping ground more, especially for summer use, as he believes it has a lot of potential. A trampoline may be acquired for the summer and Brian would like to see a games room set up for rainy days during the ski season. The couple have a miniputt set which will be available for campers' use. As well as maintaining the caravan park, Brian's job is also to clean the public toilets in Ohakune and maintain the pensioner flats in Moore Street.
