Hansen award goes to Patrick Cooper

Patrick Cooper's chances of making it to the World Skiing Championship for the Disabled next year are looking up. It was announced last week that Patrick had been awarded $1200 by the Mike Hansen Memorial Educational Foundation, to assist with his travel and accommodation costs. The determined Ruapehu College UE student cycled round the mountains last weekend in a sponsored bike ride, and plans to earn money haymaking in North-

land over the summer. The Mike Hansen award is organised by the Terrace End Rotary Club in Palmerston North to commemorate the memory of the youngestever president of the Terrace End Club who was tragically drowned. Good news of the foundation grant came soon after an anonymous Wanganui woman donated $100 to Patrick to make up for the $50 he lost when a donations box was stolen from AHI Turoa Skifields Information Centre last week.
