Chateau casino evening gives good return for Scouts
National Park Scouts held a successful casino evening at the Chateau recently, with prizes donated by businesses and individuals in National Park and Taumarunui. Although bad weather prevented many people from making the trip to the Chateau, Scout leader Nick Pakau said everyone had a good time. The $480 raised will go towards paying for camping equipment and badges to be used by National Park's 37 Cubs, 27 Scouts and seven Venturer Scouts. The prizes donated were: dinner for two at each of Buttercup, Mistys and Pipers in National Park; a weekend for two at Discovery Lodge; ski gloves, skiwies and goggles — Eivins; ski holders and poles — Moun-
tain Heights Lodge; a storm i face-guard — Ski Biz; half an hour of bicycle rides — Macrocarpa Lodge; $10 i worth of teleflowers — Lea- i na's Florists in Taumarunui; 1 set of six glasses — K ydds of Taumarunui; a load of firewood — Tongariro Mill; i carting of the timber to
anywhere in the area — Bowring Transport; two whole muttons each — Balmoral Farms and Taumarunui Farms; $50 worth of food vouchers — New World, Taumarunui; and a Rubic cube — Tattersall Mowers and Cycles, Taumarunui. Individuals including Ann
Zimmerman, Taituma and Martin Taitiima, the local taxi driver, also donated sums of money. A box of biscuits was given by Neil Nelson and Jan Pary donated a box of chocolates. George Bowring was the auctioneer.
