ATHLETICS

Two Ruapehu College students did well at the Wanganui Secondary Schools' Athletics match in Wanganui on Tuesday. Dennis Hawira came first in the junior boys' shotput and fourth in the junioi boys' 100 metres and Kaylene Saunders came third in the senior girls' shotput. Seven schools from the Wanganui region took part in the competition. Ruapehu College teacher, Ian Meredith, took the pupils to Wanganui for the competition on Tuesday night. Another meeting is to be held on 5 November and he hopes to be able to take more pupils to compete then. As many pupils were away from school with flu, Dennis and Kaylene were the only athletes available on Tuesday.
