RADIO
Dear Sir, May I through your columns express my thanks to the folk of the Waimarino for their support of the recent short term radio station — Radio Ruapehu — 2XR and 2SKI-FM. We all realise what a community station means to the people of the Waimarino. Over 1 1 weeks Radio Ruapehu tried to reflect that community spirit. In my view we succeeded in that respect. Perhaps the highlight of the whole broadcast was the success of the fundraising for the Waimarino Rescue Trust Helicopter Rescue Appeal. Although 1 could not be on hand fortheactual Radiothon, l'm pleased to say that 1 attended a special meeting of the Ruapehu Lions, at which the idea for fundraising was floated and I also put forward a few ideas, C.R.E.W. being one of them. ' To all the people of the Waimarino, thank you for your fantastic support, not only of the appeal, but for Radio Ruapehu. My heartfelt thanks too for the hospitality extended personally to me — names
being too numerous to mention.
