An old man's hut in Bellblock Mill, Dreadnought Road, Ohakune was ransacked by burglars on Saturday night. Constable John Fraser, of the Ohakune Police, said the burglars took $25 in 50 cent pieces, all the money the man had, which he was saving to buy a pair of shoes. ★ ★ ★ AHI Turoa Skifields Information Centre was broken into on Saturday night for the second time in a few weeks. Burglars smashed the same window as before and although nothing was stolen, it appears they tampered with the money machine inside the office. ★ ★ ★ A Holden Camira travelling towards Raetihi on Pipiriki Road rolled when it was about 1 0 kilometres south of Raetihi on Sunday afternoon. The four occupants of the vehicle were uninjured when their station wagon slid on gravel, struck a bank and ended on its roof. The vehicle was damaged and was towed away, Constable Trevor Pullen of Raetihi Police said. ★ ★ ★ A 20 year-old Raetihi man was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis last Thursday. He will appear in the Ohakune District Court on Thursday. ★ ★ ★ Two dagging plants were stolen from a woolshed at Tauranui Station, on Oruakukuru Road, off Parapara Road, during the night of Sunday 1 3 October.
