SNOW REPORT

There were many burnt faces after last weekend's fine weather on the mountain. At Turoa, snow conditions are holding well and promotions manager, Andy Chapman, said the weekend was a prelude to what conditions might be like at Labour Weekend when many visitors were expected. Turoa attracted 1600 people on Saturday and 1500 on Sunday. ★ ★ ★ At Whakapapa, park ranger Paul Dale reported there were many summer visitors in the park over the weekend, tramping and visiting huts. There was also good skiing for those who were keen, he said. Just over 2000 visited the Whakapapa slopes on Saturday and slightly fewer than 2000 on Sunday.
