ROVERS

The Ruapehu Rovers will probably be heading overseas again in 1988, this time to the British Isles. At a meeting of 26 intending players on Wednesday. it was decided to go ahead with the tour. Another meeting will be held in a months time for players to confirm their interest. Member of the Rovers. John Kennedy. said that about S3500 will have to be raised for each player. The team toured the United States for a month last February, playing six games. The Rovers rarely play as a team in New Zealand, but every few years, when enough funds have been raised, they travel overseas. The club was formed in 1975 and made its first overseas tour to the United States and Canada in 1977.
