Waiouru fashion parade raises kindy money
Nearly 200 people were entertained at the Burns Pool fashion parade in Waiouru which raised $650 for the Weir Terrace and Kenningston Street kindergartens. The parade, which was held on 4 October, was a community effort, said the organiser, Kate Martin. Clothing worn in the parade was provided by AGI store, hairstyles were done by Waiouru Hairstylists and Waiouru Pharmacy Ltd did the makeup. Modern dances were performed by the Joy Wilson School of Jazz from Taihape. Christabel Laracy and Andrew McQueen from Waiouru, and Cherie Young from Ohakune, all pupils of Joy Wilson, also danced. A 1920s skit was performed by mothers Desiree Cameron and Lorraine Mateara from Waiouru.
