Conversation between friends

There are many hurting people With many different hurts; They don't get what they plead for, E'en when their needs they curb; So to the Lord they turn their prayers, But seems they're not e'en heard; Why does He then not hear their cry? Why, Lord, Why? Each of has a different need; Some need a friend or mate, Some need more time to quietly read, Some, food upon a plate; So to the Lord we then do cry, 'Lord give us what we crave'; Our prayer, it seems, does not reach high; Why Lord? Why? 'You are in heaven now O God, You're much too far away; I want you here, someone to hold, To talk to every day; Someone to tell just what to do, Wholl give me all 1 want; But you don't even hear my - sigh . . . Why Lord? Why?' 'I think my child 'tis now the time To answer all your prayer; Do you not realise time is mine?

Do you now know or care I am the God of all you see, I made this world you're in; A servant I might once have been When I came down to earth to die: You ask, 'Why?' But in that grave I did not stay, I rose in all my Glory; It is not now your right to pray As if I owe you come loy'lty; I died for you, 'tis now your need To worship only me; So do not rant and rave and cry Why Lord? Why? You do not want Me as a friend — A servant is your need ! You will insist that you know best! You will not to Me heed! So I don't give you all you want, For 'tis not need, but greed; The best is not what you can buy, Don't ask: Why? If I did give you all you ask You would more selfish grow; My laws are written in My Book, (And all you need to know), With promises for every day, So study it, and grow, Then when you need to

laugh or cry, Don't ask: Why? I pause and wonder what He means: Do I not need my wants? Is He the only one I need? Is He contentment's font? Is it because I've lost His rules That I am now so lost? I'll turn to Him, on Him rely; He knows why! Fey D. Eves
