WAIMARINO RESCUE FIELD DAY

Local emergency services, army personnel, parachutists and gliders will be some of those showing off their skills at the Waimarino Rescue Day, this Saturday at Wards Airstrip, Valley Road, Raetihi, from 10am. The rescue day, organised by Constable Trevor Pullen of Raetihi Police, will feature static displays of emergency services and a simulated rescue from a crashedv

car by fire brigade, ambulance and police. Other events will include a lolly drop for children, and a gliding aerobatics display. A rescue helicopter from Wanganui, containing the type of rescue equipment soon to be installed in the Raetihi helicopter, will also be there. McLachlans Transport will provide transport to the field day from both Raetihi and Ohakune. The Ohakune bus will leave from Kapai Bookshop at 10am and from

Dowmans Four Square at 10.15am, returning in the afternoon. Refreshments will be available, and admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children and children under five, free. All proceeds will go to the Waimarino Rescue Trust Helicopter.
