Shoppers queue for bargains
Hundreds of shoppers turned out to see the reopening of the Armed Forces Canteen Council's AGI store at Waiouru on Thursday. People were queueing at the door before the opening. When the doors opened at 9am shoppers rushed in to grab the specials such as an Adidas tracksuit and New Balance, Adidas and Nike running shoes for $4.99 each. As well as specials on clothes and crockery items, there were also big food
specials. "If people missed out on the specials today they can come within the next twa weeks and the specials will still beon,"said the manager of the AFCC in Waiouru, Mr Robert Morris. The general manager of the AFCC, Kevin Smith, from Wellington, attended the re-opening, as well as the commander of ATG Waiouru, Colonel Bruce Meldrum. About 28 staff were working on the day to cope with what was believed to be
the largest number of people ever in the store. Staff worked for five days while the store was closed to the public, re-organising stock and adding a wider range of items. "We were here at 5 o'clock this morning and worked until midnight some nights to get it all dohe, but it's paid off," said Mr Morris.
