After search and rescue teams at Whakapapa have been put on stand-by six times in the last week responding to false alarms, Park ranger, Paul Dale is asking people to let others know of their intentions while on the mountain and is urging them to keep to their plans. Mr Dale says a lot of unnecessary time has been spent on looking for people who are in fact safe at home, in the village or in the pub. "People are not aware of the potential hazardous conditions on the mountain," says Mr Dale so they do not make or keep to their plans.
