WEEKEND SKI REPORT

At Whakapapa over the weekend, 9,648 people used the siopes. On Saturday, when the conditions were overcast with light winds and snow but very good skiing, 4,598 people skied. Sunday was colder with breaks in the cloud and more snow. There were two mild cases of hypothermia but it is believed these may have been caused by those involved not wearing adequate clothing. Over 6,000 people visited Turoa over the weekend. Limited facilities operated on Saturday due to a cold northerly wind on the upper half of the skifield. After a fresh fall of snow on Saturday along with lighter winds, all facilities operated on Sunday.
