Old Boys beaten
One of the stars of Ruapehu region rugby, Ruapehu College Old Boys, were beaten 6-0 on Saturday by Huia at Raetihi. The defeat came as a shock for the club which has been riding on the crest of a wave following its huge success over the past two seasons. The club is now in division two after working its way up through the ranks. The club was formed in 1 980 when several boys from Ohakune and Raetihi who
had been part of a successful team while at college, decided that rather than split to play in those towns' senior teams, they would prefer to continue playing together. At the beginning of this season the club took it's
place in division three finishing the round in top place, only loosing one of it's seven games. And it is a fellow Ruapehu region club — Raetihi — which has moved down to division three to make way for the Old Boys.
