Top skiers for Nationals

The New Zealand Ski Association Subaru Nationals to be held at Turoa from 7-1 2th September should attract a number of overseas skiers, according to secretary oi the organising committee, Mrs Sue Allomes. Top international skiers will be in the country to compete in the Europa ski series at Mount Hutt, Canterbury, which is a week after the Nationals at Turoa, "So there is a chance they will come to Ohakune too," said Sue.

Sue and her husband Don visited Mount Hutt, where the Nationals were held last year, to see how the event was organised. The organising committee began preparing to stage the Nationals last September. Markus Hubrich, New Zealand skier of the year, will be taking part in the nationals. "We have received a lot of local support with the organisation of the race but would appreciate more when it gets near to the time of the races," says Sue.
