One-way meeting

Concerned citizens came out against Goldfinch Street becoming one-way when they met with chairman of the Ohakune Borough Council's planning committee, cr. Errol Sue, on Thursday. The twenty-three shopkeepers and residents who attended the meeting passed a motion expressing the opinion that a pedestrian crossing in Goldfinch Street would be of more value in improving road safety than would making the street one-way. Comments made at the meeting were taken back to a meeting of the planning committee held on Thursday evening, by cr. Sue, and the committee's decision on the issue will be put to the full council when it next meets.
