End of season Pony Club rally
Raetihi Pony Club held an end of season rally and prizegiving on Anzac Day. Twenty children joined in friendly competition at the Raetihi showground. They were judged by Julie Peari son, Roie McGill and Kathy MacLean. Sally Williams, Rodney McCoubrie and Stephanie ; Dekker won prizes for most j points in the competitions ! held during the day in the j junior, intermediate and I senior groups respectively. Prizes were donated by
Bowaters Saddlery, Crown Farmers and Boyds Bookshop. Several children were awarded cups for their work and achievement throughout the year. The Kui and Griffin Cup for the best turned out senior rider went to Sharon Wagstaff. The Williams Trophy for the best turned out junior rider went to Rodney McCoubrie. Dobson Brothers' Cup for attendance at rallies went to Maria Fredricksen (senior). The MacLean Cup for junior attendance went jointly to Marni McGregor and Sally Williams. The Bowater Cup for the most improved senior rider went to Shari Mason.
The McGregor Cup for the most improved junior rider went to Helene Dobson. The Waipuna Ridge Trophy for the most conscientious rider went to Stephanie Dekker. Four children passed the pony club D certificate examination in horsemanship during the year and these certificates were presented to Sharon Wagstaff, Rodney McCoubrie, Diane Green and Stephanie Dekker. Nicky Williams and Alison McGregor jointly "held the reins" on this well-run day.
