Local prize winners
Five local ceramics students were amongst prize winners at the recent Hamilton National Ceramics Show. Twenty-nine of the one thousand entries were by students of Mrs Honey Winter of the Honey Pot Ceramic Studio, Raetihi. One of the Raetihi competitors, Mrs Rona Barrett, won the highest award at the show, the Jud-
ges Award, for the second time. The award is for the item the judges believe is the most original and most difficult to make. Mrs Nancy Parata of Raetihi won first prize in the doll lacing section and Mrs Kathy Dobbs also of Raetihi won first and second in the greenware alteration section. Mrs Mary Baker of National Park won third place with her trace brush design and Mrs Sue Jane of Raetihi came third in the fun section. As well as winning the Judges Award, Mrs Barrett came first and second in the free-hand section and second in the underglaze section.
