Good start for United

The first game of the season was a good one for Waiouru United (Regular Force Cadets), who beat the reigning league champions, Taihape, 3-1 at Taihape. Goal scorers for United were Cadet Olsen (2) and Cadet Hay. The man of the match award went to Cadet Johnson \vho played a very strong game in defence. On Anzac Day the team came up against Taupo High School, which proved to be a very hard fixture. The cadet team found themselves behind 1-0 at half-time and didn't get a single shot near goal themselves in the entire.first half. The second half saw a transformation in the cadet team which resulted in pressure being put back on the Taupo boys, eventually resulting in a goal by Cadet Bernstone. The game finished at 1-1. Waiouru United's most recent game was against Hautu, in the Tongariro League competition at Turangi. This match turned into a one-sided affair with United running out easy winners by 9-1. Scorers for Waiouru were Cadet Van Barnaveld (3), Cadet Dempsey (3), Cadet Olsen (2) and Cadet Thomson.
