Lions Club
As part of their continued involvement with community projects, the Ruapehu Lions Club has decided to erect a children's playhouse in Ohakune and a slide in Raetihi. The playhouse, which will be built in Jubilee Park, Ohakune, will contain a ladder leading to a sliding pole and will be supported on poles. It will measure 3.5 metres in length by 2.5 metres wide. Materials will cost $500 and all labour will be donated by the Lions themselves. The slide, to be installed in the park next to Raetihi Printing Company will also cost approximately $500. The play house is to be erected by Noel Bates and his committee of Lions Club members before the end of April. A working bee to erect the steel and pipe framework for the slide will be held next Saturday ( 1 3th April) by Mr Doug Bennett and several other Lions members. Soon after the framework is complete, the slide will be erected by Lions Volunteers. Both projects are top priority for the Lions so should be completed shortly.
